Flow Control Method

Privacy

This is an intimate subject. I collect as little as possible, and I say exactly what.

Who is responsible

The data described here is handled by the publisher of Flow Control Method. Contact: flowcontrolmethod@gmail.com.

Reading the site

Reading the site doesn’t require any personal information, and there is no advertising. Fonts are served from this site, not from a third party.

Audience measurement

I use Google Analytics to see which pages help and where visitors come from: a search, a social network, a campaign link. It counts the public pages that are read and a few steps, such as creating an account or opening the checkout. It never receives your name, your email or anything you type, and it never runs in the member area. Page addresses are sent without their details, except campaign tags. Google Signals and ad personalisation are off, and the statistics are kept 14 months.

In the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, nothing runs until you click “Accept” on the banner, and refusing is just as easy. Elsewhere it runs by default. Wherever you are, you can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page: refusing stops the measurement and deletes its cookies.

Like any web host, our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the service.

Your account

To buy access, you create an account with your email address and a password. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored in a form nobody can read, us included. We use your email address only to run your account: to let you log in, reset your password, and contact you about your access. No newsletter, and nothing is shared with anyone for marketing.

Your purchases

For each purchase we keep the length of access you bought, its date and the payment reference. That is what decides which weeks of the program you can read. We don’t record what you read or when.

Payment

Payments are handled by Stripe. The sale goes through Link, Stripe’s reseller service, which acts as the seller of record: it processes your payment, calculates and collects the applicable taxes, and sends your receipt. It collects your card details, billing country and address for that purpose, under its own privacy policy. We never receive your full card number.

Discretion

Your bank statement shows LINK.COM* FLOWCONTROL. The addresses of the program’s pages are neutral, so your browser history doesn’t spell out what you read.

Cookies

When you log in, the site sets one cookie, __session, that keeps you logged in for up to 14 days and is deleted when you log out. It is strictly necessary for the member area, so it doesn’t need your consent. If you accept audience measurement, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga, for up to 13 months). Your answer to the banner is kept on your device for 6 months, not on our servers. On its payment page, Stripe sets its own cookies to prevent fraud.

Who processes your data

  • Vercel Inc. (United States): hosting of the site.
  • Google Firebase: authentication, and the database of purchases, located in the European Union.
  • Stripe and Link: payment, taxes and receipts.
  • Google: audience measurement (Google Analytics), only as described above.

When data leaves the European Union, these providers rely on the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Your account and purchases are kept as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it, except for the purchase records the law requires us to keep for accounting (up to 10 years under French law).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, correct or delete your data, ask for a copy of it, restrict or object to its processing. Write to flowcontrolmethod@gmail.com. If you think we haven’t answered properly, you can complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr) in France, or to the data protection authority of your country.
